“ Love Zabars lox. I would argue it's the best lox I've had. I stopped by for a late pick me up lunch after walking through Central Park. The Zabars location is absolutely perfect if you ever need some delicious picnic food to bring to the park with you. I grabbed a lox bagel with cream cheese from the grab and go since I wasn't feeling all the toppings and was hungry. The line moved fast and wow if you have time, I'd definitely recommend spending some time in the market next door. It's absolutely filled to the brim with the best lox cheese and other great food/groceries. Zabars is busy on the weekends but definitely worth stopping by. Such a great Jewish grocery store and deli vibe! It also has great desserts!! ”
“ My goodness. This is what a lox bagel (from the cafe) is all about... I will never be able to enjoy the sludge they pass off as bagels and lox in Portland ever again. Came to the cafe for an early breakfast. The traditional lox with the works is where it's at. And their coffee (latte) is also one of the best ones I've ever had. Super friendly gents working as well. Second visit was a lot busier, and the lox not as good... I knew I should have just left well enough alone... but that's the way. Greed and lust are too powerful. The actual store/market next door is a zoo with (going to stereotype here) at least half of the people there being UWS silver spoon entitled schmucks. Didn't buy anything, but I remember from shopping here 20 years ago, their selection is amazing... hope you've got enough silver spoons to shop here regularly. ”
“ We couldn't very well go to New York City and not visit Zabar's. It's just so iconic. We decided to share their Zabar's Classic Nova bagel sandwich ("our world famous nova, onions, capers, & tomato on your choice of toasted bagel & cream cheese"), and we got that with an everything bagel and plain cream cheese. It was ready within minutes and holy moly was it miles better than every similar concoction I've had in the past. The fresh, delicious bagel is enhanced by the components within, with that nova just knocking my socks completely off. It's got such a distinctive flavor that I've never tasted in lox or smoked salmon before, and I loved how generous a portion they included. It's so, so good. I also got a cup of coffee, their Zabar's Blend ("our house blend light roast"), which was also very much above average. It's certainly not difficult to see why Zabar's has endured over the years. They're really something special. ”
“ A classic. A great selection of cheeses, pickled items, baked goods. My husband and I always seem to walk out with far more stuff than we intended on getting. (Did we need babka and rugelach, for example? The answer can only be: yes.) ”
“ I visit Zabars on a regular basis andam most pleased with their bakery items and soups. Their rugelach is the very best in the whole city, and their pecan bars are scrumptious. Their breads are fresh and they can slice them for you for your convenience. Their rye bread is one of my favorites. Around the holidays, they have jelly donuts, and I have to say I was not very impressed with theirs as I found the dough to be on the dry side and the raspberry jam to be fine, but not amazing. Their chicken consume is phenomenal and their smoked salmon is world renowned. Their cheese department always has a very nice variety and often has good prices on select items. I always look forward to visiting this store. ”

“ I loooove Zabar's! It is a charming, unique and vibrant neighborhood staple. I've visited it over the years (on and off), and there's nothing like it. It has character, and a good one at that! : ) Their original products and friendly ambiance is truly special, and I highly recommend it. This establishment makes terrific grab-and-go meals, including chicken-based, seafood-based and vegetarian-based offerings. (I'll share a salmon one here via photos.) These nutritious, easy-to-make meals make life so much easier. Marrying both convenience and healthiness, their products are typically both simple-to-serve and tasty-to-eat. And, in my lived experience, their staff members are courteous, kind and quick to share a smile. : ) If you live in or visit Manhattan's UWS, then I suggest shopping at Zabar's, if you haven't already done so. Warmly, Kat ”
“ This a beautiful gourmet market with high quality foods. Check out the prepared foods, the produce. Service is fast and friendly, very good. You need some time to really enjoy all the products, there are some unique things! ”
“ Zabar's, known for their smoked fish and deli counter is an iconic spot in New York. As a visitor to the city, I wish I could have taken so many of their delicious looking deli case items back to NC with me. We sampled a few items from the bakery and grabbed a small container of smoked whitefish and crackers to eat in the park. The prices are a little high in my opinion. The items we sampled were OK. I'm glad I got to visit but I wouldn't be going back for those items if I find myself there again. I think Zabar's is meant for people who want a gourmet meal ready to heat at home without needing to prepare. The items in their deli case all looked amazing. It wasn't particularly crowded while we were there although there was a fair amount of people in the store. There were a few people waiting at the deli counter and bakery counter. It was a little confusing to me being a visitor what the procedure was at the counters. Are they calling people by number? Or just waiting in line? We ended up getting items from the packaged refrigerator case and the bakery counter anyway. I liked the variety of speciality grocery items available there. The dried fruits, specialty crackers and cocktail bread/toasts that are perfect for appetizers and meat and cheese boards. ”
